What is airbrush tanning?

Airbrush tanning is the process of applying a micro-fine mist of DHA (dihydroxyacetone) solution through cutting edge HVLP tanning equipment. The DHA reacts with the amino acids in the outer, dead layer of the skin. This leaves you with a bronzed glow, much like the sun does, but without UVA and UVB damage. The look is extremely natural and will never leave you with an "orange" tint.

Is Airbrush Tanning Safe?

DHA sunless tanning has been recommended by The Skin Care Organization, American Academy of Dermatology, The American Cancer Society, The American Medical Society, and has been approved for cosmetic use by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The main ingredient, DHA, is a derivative of raw sugar cane and has been used safely since the 1970's in sunless tanning products such as creams and lotions.

How does it work?

First, you call or email me to set up an appointment. I travel to your desired location, set up a "tanning tent" and use an airbrush technique to apply your tan. The tanning tent only requires a 5x5 space and catches any solution that doesn't land on you. No need to worry about "overspray" on your furniture and floors. Once I'm done, I pack my equipment into a travel bag and I'm on my way! You never have to leave the comfort of your home or office and the total appointment time takes 30 minutes or less.

How Long Will My Spray Tan Last?

Your tan will typically last 7-10 days and fades similar to a normal suntan. However, the length of your tan may vary depending on how you care for your skin before and after your tanning session. Moisturizer is the main key to prolonging your tan. The more you moisturize, the longer the tan lasts. Please see our instructions in the Services section.

What Do Clients Wear?

Attire for women is whatever you are comfortable with wearing. While some choose to tan in the nude, others prefer underwear or bathing suits. The key is your comfort level. Men must wear an undergarment or bathing suit for the session. Our tanning specialists use the utmost discretion.

How is airbrush tanning better than spray booths?

Spray tan booths are a "one tan fits all" solution which can result in streaking, overspray, and less-than-desirable coloring. With airbrush tanning, an appropriate amount of mist is personally applied by a trained technician to give you the most even coverage possible. In a booth, the same amount of solution is used, regardless of your size. For example, a 100 pound person would receive the same amount of tanning solution as a 400 pound person, delivering uneven results. At Sweet B's, we customize the color to your exact skin tone and apply it to the natural contours of your body. A personalized tan is always the best tan!
